Miracle on 34th Street

Miracle on 34th street has a Christmas theme and has become indicative of the time of year. Being a perennial Christmas favorite, the film has won many awards. The delightful tale captures the eagerly anticipated appearance of Santa Claus. The film is a favorite and remains a solid family film.

The story is about the appearance of a department store Santa and the confusion among the people in deciding whether he is real or not. Mrs. Walker offers the part of Santa to an elderly man to realize that her employee identifies himself as Kris Kringle. Mrs. Walker doesn’t believe in fairy tales after she got divorced, and has taught her daughter Susan the same. But Susan is captured by the charm of Mr. Kringle when she meets him by chance. His charm works on everybody except the psychologist who has him sent to a mental institution. It is then left to the state of New York to confirm the existence of Santa Claus.

There have been wonderful performances by the child artist and the film has become a Christmas tradition for many people. The film is nostalgic and sentimental and manipulative to a certain extent. Though it doesn’t solve the queries pertaining to the authenticity of Santa’s existence, it leaves a magical effect and encourages people to help others.

The film essentially tries to depict all the good things that are associated with Christmas. It ignites the spark of hope in the minds of people to act beyond their selfish desires and learn to attend to people’s needs. It has tried to state that if the world doesn’t believe in the existence of Santa anymore, it has turned into a hopeless and sad place to live in.
