The film is a horror film based on the short film of the same name. Despite receiving mixed reviews from the critics, the film was a financial success at the box office and was liked by the audiences. The popularity of the film resulted in five lucrative sequels. The film was made on a small budget and is believed to have grossed huge profits.
The story is about two men who get kidnapped and find themselves waking up in a dilapidated bathroom, chained and next to a dead body. They are instructed on the rules of the game to escape via a cassette recorder. There are brutal killings by Jigsaw and the police detectives investigate and try to capture him in the meantime.
The plot is quite interesting and keeps the audience glued. There is no melodrama in the movie and the film directly jumps into the story. It is about two men who realize that one of them has to kill the other within six hours in order to save his wife and child. They are trapped and get audio directions via a tape recorder to escape. The story is how they find out a way out of the trap to escape and save each other. The story is extremely gripping and interesting.
Although well accepted by the audiences, the film was criticized for its gruesome graphic violence and is suggested only for adults. There is a smart use of expensive looking visual effects and this was greatly appreciated. The suspense is maintained well and the audiences kept guessing. Overall, it is a refreshing and cynical film only for adults. |

This horror film is about a group of five college students who decide to have fun after their graduation and rent a cabin in the woods. The twist in the story comes when they begin to fall prey to a deadly flesh eating virus. The film received positive reviews from the critics and was the third highest grossing film of the year and was a huge box office hit.
The film features five teenagers with varied characters who retreat to the woods for some fun but end up with a horrific experience. The director <!-- /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-parent:""; margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";} @page Section1 {size:8.5in 11.0in; margin:1.0in 1.25in 1.0in 1.25in; mso-header-margin:.5in; mso-footer-margin:.5in; mso-paper-source:0;} div.Section1 {page:Section1;} --> Eli Roth has tried to depict the attitudes of teenagers. The fun is spoiled when they meet a forest dweller infected with a mysterious virus and desiccated skin. Scared for their lives, they decide to kill the man. However, his infection is spread into the water stream nearby and thus into the local water supply.
The gang slowly gets their share of infection and realizes that it would be fatal. This also turns them against each other. The film is a subtle mix of horror and comedy. The film is extremely fast paced and falls just short of being great. The running time is short and the film lacks enough scaring sequences.
The film has potential to be greater than it has turned out to be but the overall impact of the film is impressive and has been accepted well by the audiences. |

The best statement that can be perhaps made about this horror flick which has won the acclaim of the audience as well as the critics is the fact that after a very long time a horror film has been made which is as original as any horror flick gets. Thankfully, the film is not a remake of any previous horror film and is in itself as creepy and scary as any horror-film lover would want it to be.
The film is about these slithering creatures that are taking over human bodies, while there is this one human who has been infested by the slithering alien and his only mission throughout the film seems to be to eat meat, as he prepares for some ultimate mission that takes place in the end of the film. The film is full of suspense and actually verges on the gore. Many people might not find it as fascinating as those others who are fans of gore and horror films.
The script of the film in fact is very well written; besides the actual plot of the story, the dialogues and the witty one liners and some of the best moments of the film are very well written and immensely entertaining. Even if you do not enjoy watching horror films, you will not be able to unglue your eyes from the movie screen, the action is that riveting. |

Dawn of the Dead most certainly is a horror film and is quite a thrilling spectacle but some of its features sets it apart from others of the same genre and helps it transcend the usual boundaries of zombie films. The storyline involves a group of survivors of a zombie attack who have managed to seal themselves off inside the consumers department of a shopping mall. The film might seems cliché for a zombie flick but the fact is that it was released in 1978 and was a huge hit at the time.
The few features that the director Romero consciously made sure of was that it wasn’t as gory as it could have been. The zombies themselves were pretty ordinary looking as far as other zombies are concerned, also most of the action took place in broad daylight without too much of scary shadows and dark alleys being used to scare the audience. In fact the zombies were made pretty comic while they were also scary as they fell off escalators or toppled over each other. But the fact is that because the zombie attack, the lighting and the zombies themselves were represented in such an uncharacteristically casual way, without the usual techniques used by film directors to scare audiences, the horror is actually heightened. It is as if a audience which watches the Dawn of the dead would start fearing the daylight as well, leave alone the night time.
The film is a well written story with its fair share of societal references that most horror and science fiction films have. |

If you like horror and Science fiction films, you have to give your hats off to this one. Shaun of the dead is actually a spoof on the typical zombie horror films and is executed very well Edgar Wright and Simon Penn who are also responsible for the big-hit TV show- Spaced. The film centers around an oddball of a character Shaun who lives in London with a hardly lucky life, only to realize soon enough that the city is being taken over by zombies. After all those grotesque horror flicks that you might have watched recently, Shaun of the Dead is going to get you a whole lot of fun. Every encounter that Shaun has with the Zombies is hysterically funny and you will know why the film has received all the accolades that it has. The best part of the film is that there is an equal balance of having used the scary and the comic to make the plot wholly believable. While the main set of characters battles it out with the zombies, also in the meanwhile trying to win girlfriends back and practicing a game on the PS2, the film is comic in the right places and intense in some others.
The climax of the film for instance is definitely intense if not altogether a scary one as one would expect a horror flick to be. A comic spoof on horror zombie flicks has been very well executed by the film. |
