Kids Movie
The Kid

The film is a silent sad comedy and the first of the films that Charlie Chaplin wrote, produced and acted in too. The film featured Jackie Coogan as Chaplin’s adopted son. The film was hugely successful and was the second highest grossing film of the year. The silent movie is very rich and beautiful.

The story is about Chaplin taking care of an abandoned baby. A desperate new mother abandons her newborn in a limousine hoping for a bright future for her baby but the limo is stolen by some thugs and the baby thrown away. He is picked up by Chaplin and taken care of by him. They create a wonderful father son duo. The boy becomes his partner in crime and is taken away by the welfare services. What follows, is a desperate search and an emotional reunion.

The film is very sensitive and the father-son bonding has been depicted extremely well. The dinner scenes, the child boxing scene and the adoption scene are the most heart wrenching and sentimental scenes of the movie. The father-son bonding is good natured and feels genuinely authentic.

This is the most adorable film and is light and overtly sentimental at the same time. The film is extremely touching and you are sure to end up in tears after watching it. The film is an amazing portrayal of love and emotion set against the soiled world of poverty and is a true classic which belittles every other film. It is a must watch!

X-Men: The Last Stand

The film is the third film in the X-Men series and is a superhero film. Despite receiving mixed reviews, the film was a financial success at the box office. It is one of the record highest grossing films for opening day and opening weekend. The film is the final battle and features all of the X-Men characters.

The story revolves around a cure for mutation developed by Worthington Labs and the U.S government. However this poses threat to the mutant community and Magneto, the leader of the brotherhood along with Phoenix decides to stop those against them. At the same time, X-Men try to stop Magneto from killing people and safeguard them from getting scared of humanity.

The film is the most comic one in the trilogy. The film has several strong parts which collectively strengthen the story. The film is colorful, fast paced and melodramatic and has several interesting segments distributed along the film which make it all the more interesting. The film has many subplots and is stuffed with characters which make it seem a little hurried in execution. Even with all this complexity, the film retains simplicity and interest.

The climax offering a cure to mutancy brings a choice for the mutants for the first time. They are to choose between retaining uniqueness and stay alienated or give up their powers and live as humans. It is a fantastic film fully loaded with special effects and a roller coaster ride for the youngsters.

Ghostbusters

The science fiction comedy film has been the favorite of many and is about three strange parapsychologists turned ghost eradicators. The film was one of the highest grossing films of its time. The Ghostbusters concept was loved by children and the cartoon series and sequels that followed were equally appreciated.

The special effects in the film are highly appreciable. Along with this, there are some nicely timed and wonderfully written dialogues that keep the audiences rolling over. The sets of the film are superb especially the ones used where the Ghostbusters go up against slimer. Also, the special effects employed in the climax are extremely realistic and very well done.

One of the finest comic actors, Bill Murray is a delight to be watched on the screen as he delivers his masterful performances. Rick Moranis, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts have put in wonderful supporting roles and got their chances to shine as well. The subplot where the boys get busted by the EPA is a little unacceptable and stalls the movie in the middle.

The movie is a fun journey from start to finish. Being one of the most popular comedies ever, Ghostbusters inspired many subsequent hits and cartoons. The film has been enjoyed by the masses and is a huge success in the genre.

Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian

The comedy film is a sequel to the adventure film Night at the Museum (2006). Directed by Shawn Levy, the film received moderate success at the box office. Despite its novelty, the script seems familiar and is a mix of interesting old and new stuffs. The film has a clever mix of funny magic for the younger audience and clever verbal humor for the older kids and their parents.

The family is a warm comedy and a thrilling family entertainer. Ben Stiller has brilliantly played the lead in this comic venture. The story is fictional where the displays in the museum come to life at night and a struggle erupts between the good and the bad ones. The museum pieces of Natural History are moved to the federal storage at the Washington Museums due to the renovations in the former. The Smithsonian institution is brought to life which houses the largest number of items in its collections.

The comedy in the film has been designed well and performed better by Mr. Stiller. The scene where Mr. Stiller gets slapped by a couple of monkeys is one of the most hilarious scenes. Another hilarious scene of the film is the one about the confusion and hustle bustle between Mr. Stiller and Jonah Hill.

Enormous small and huge artworks have been used in the film which spring up to life at night. The giant marble Abraham Lincoln is something to be watched for along with several classic paintings, sculptures and photographs. The minor cameos in the film add a lot of fun element to the movie. The kids would love the film and laugh at all the funny and not so funny jokes. The additional feature is that it includes history. So overall, it is a moderately enjoyable film.

King Kong considers himself to be the girl’s protector and even tries to impress her. She is like a toy been given to him and he regards her with care. A certain bond forms between them and it has been filmed in a very touching way.

The film is a great entertainer though it is very lengthy. King Kong was lauded for its visual effects, sound mixing and sound editing. There has been an effective use of computers to create special effects, style and beauty befitting the storyline. The film elaborates on the association of beauty with destruction and tells how it actually depends on the way of perception.
