Spy Kids

Spy Kids is a simple story about two kids and is the first of the Spy Kids trilogy. The film has been written and directed by Robert Rodriguez and edited by Guillermo Navarro. The film stars Daryl Sabara and Alexa Vega as the children of super spy parents. Antonio Banderas and Carla Gugino play their parents.

The story shapes as two kids, Juni and Carmen come to know that their parents are real life spies. The parents are abducted by the diabolic Floop, to fulfill his plan of building an army of robotic spy kids with artificial intelligence. After the abduction, the kids are thrown into a world of adventure of flying through air, fighting robots, accessing databases with computerized sunglasses and eventually learning that dreams can be fulfilled.

Spy Kids is a film for both kids as well as their parents. There is a nice mix of action sequences and never before experiences yet retaining the film as a family entertainer. The action sequences do not get too serious or disturbing. The film also imparts some family values very smoothly without affecting the pace of the story and the plot.

The film is a child’s delight and fantasy. The kids in the film get to experience great adventures and their interaction that of sibling rivalry has been depicted well. The kids are savvy and smart and give freshness to the film. The action is mild and the victory is through intelligence and wit and not weapons. Family unity and trust is played up here and that sends out a good message to the child viewers.
