The science fiction-action film was directed by Larry and Andy Wachowski starring Keanu Reaves. The film portrays the future in which reality perceived by humans is The Matrix, a reality created by machines to subdue the human population using their body heat and electrical activity as a source of energy.
The film received favorable reviews and has used innovative visual effects. The film takes the concept of dreaming life. There is a brilliant incorporation of still photography and computer enhancements in the film to create special effects. The story shows the future face of earth where life is just but a computer simulation. Human mind and its energy are used as energy sources for a grand machine. Humans are plugged in and the sensations of mind are projected as real though they aren’t. Keanu Reeves plays such a man who is plugged in and awakens to this reality. Some of them can break into this machine dream world, and are called “the hackers” who are constantly monitored by computer controlled “agents”.
The film is completely based on fiction and has computer related concepts incorporated into the storyline. The film has many references to the hacker subcultures. The film has a wonderful script, sound, visual effects and amazing acting performances by the characters which make this film a tribute to a usually overlooked genre.
The film has a very creative and a unique storyline. The action sequences are interesting and the slow motion run sequences are spectacular. It is a must watch and promises complete entertainment. |

The Terminator is a science fiction film featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Terminator. The film was successful and was followed by three sequels. The film was a box office hit and went on to gross high profits domestically. The film received mostly positive reviews. The film is packed with action and blasted the career of Arnold and gave huge publicity to James Cameron.
The Terminator topped the box office charts and is one movie everyone would have heard of, even if not watched. The film was made on a low budget and had a wonderful script which gave a new meaning to a possible dark future. The film is a mix of action, romance, special effects, horror and also some dark humor.
The film hypothesizes a future in which machines conduct a war on the mankind left after a nuclear holocaust. The concept of time travel back to present has been intelligently used in the film. Due to this, several futuristic elements have been incorporated in the film without incurring many expenses on the futuristic sets.
The title role is played by Arnold Schwarzenegger and is perfectly suited to him. His mechanical accent and muscular body were the features that made him suit the role well. The film scores for its story and casting and is one of the greatest movies of all time and wouldn’t disappoint the viewers. |

The film is one of the finest science fiction horror films made and is one of a kind. It has been ranked the seventh best film in the science fiction genre and deserves every bit of it. The plot of the film has been carefully constructed to the point and repeated viewings only add to the flavor. The film’s title refers to a highly aggressive extraterrestrial creature which hunts and kills the team of a spaceship.
It garnered both critical acclaim and financial success and it was a pioneer in starting a series of its kind. The film was hugely successful and has remained highly praised since then.
The story commences with the crew of the consignment “Nostromo” waking up before schedule to realize that life has been detected on a nearby planet by their on-board computer and all of them leave for the investigation. Amidst mush opposition, one of them brings back an Alien which soon starts creating troubles.
The atmosphere built by the film is amazing with well designed sets. The scene where the Alien is introduced is a real jolter. The music incorporated in the film moves the story well with pounding terror. And the silence used in other scenes works just as well. This makes it a wonderful mixture of music and terror.
Alien is one of the greatest attempts in the genre of action, sci-fi, horror or even drama and is filled with amazing performances and loads of thrill. |

District 9 is a gritty faux documentary that takes place in South Africa which is about an alien mothership descended over Johannesburg 28 years ago and promptly broke down, stranding more than a million crustaceans like aliens on Earth. A huge spaceship comes to a sudden halt above Johannesburg, South Africa, stranding all its passengers on Earth. Though a lot of people will draw comparison the initial scenes unreel into a mocking documentary featuring interviews with human witnesses and television broadcast excerpts. With these feature Neil blomkamp’s directorial debut has made a dramatic entry onto the stage. He has upended expectations that had been lowered when it comes to sci-fi films remembering that human behavior is the most fascinating special effect of all, with the inexplicable motivations of alien creatures coming in a close second. It is infact the sci fi for the ages.
The last part of the film is full of amazing actions with great battle scenes and some of the best gun fights of the last several years. The cool factor explodes with alien weaprony, thousands of rounds of ammunition, and the mechanized fighting suit. A very impressive debut and the film sets a good example as to how to use original sci fi as a mirror of our own. |

This was the second film of the Matrix Trilogy, and this was indeed a treat to the eyes for everyone who had loved the first film, “The Matrix”. Directed by the Wachowski Brothers, ‘The Matrix Reloaded’ is a film that is a continuation from its previous version and it deals with Neo, learning to unfold his powers and see the super heroic abilities that he possessed.
One of the major ideas of the film is the power of Neo to identify people with codes and understand everything around him. As and where the first film ended, The Matrix Revolutions begin with Morpheus, Trinity, and others continuing their fight in order to win the war against the machines. We find that this films deals with the world of the hyper-real and how people were increasingly trying to live a life in the world of the real and not the hyper-real. The last city in the real world order is Zion and the war begins here. This is the final frontier of human existence in the real and this is the warfront of the battle between the man and the machine. The Matrix Reloaded has a great sound design and I find this better than the first film.
Composed by Don Davis, the same person who had composed The Matrix, the sound track was exceedingly great and especially action sequences looked great. Done in Danetracks in West Hollywood, CA, this film also had a few famous names like Linking Park, P.O.D, Rob Zombie, RATM and Marilyn Mansion. A film that needs to be watched a several times, it is my favorite in the Matrix Trilogy. |
