Taxi Driver

Taxi Driver is a thriller set in New York City starring Robert De Niro. The film was a financial success and also one of the highest grossing films of the year at box office. The film won several awards and has also been selected for preservation in the U.S National Film Registry.

The story is about Robert, a Vietnam vet who has a fascination with the low life of the city and is struggling to come to terms with the environment he lives in. To study the life there, he chooses to drive his taxi at night in the shady areas. There is an instance where he has a politician as a passenger and the dialogues of it have been scripted extremely well. He then meets a young prostitute played by Jodie Foster and his mission becomes to rescue her and unite her with her folk.

The film has extreme emotions depicted smartly. The centre character has been played brilliantly by Robert and he fills life into the character. The film is a cinematic masterpiece. The scene in which he practices his moves in front of the mirror has been the most inspiring and a highly imitated scene.

Taxi Driver is an unforgettable film that exposes the dark side of New York City. The character study of Robert is praise worthy and the film remains an all time favorite and a classic.
